Botulinum toxin type A is injected in small, precise doses into targeted facial muscles using a fine needle. It works by temporarily blocking nerve signals to the muscle, preventing the contractions that cause dynamic wrinkles — commonly treated areas include the forehead, frown lines (glabella) and crow's feet.
The muscle relaxes rather than freezes, softening existing lines while preventing new ones from deepening. Treatment takes around 10–15 minutes, with visible results developing over 3–7 days and lasting 3–4 months before a top-up is needed.
